Greg Waite, CEO of InventionShare, announced during the LA Auto Show at the LA Convention Center that the injection of Circuit Seed’s, Sensory Seed™ multipurpose sensor systems integrated on a single chip combined into current automotive sensor applications can improve critical speed and accuracy to provide the world’s best automotive collision, detection and avoidance technologies for driver-assist and autonomous vehicles.
Mr. Waite said that InventionShare has been working with the inventors of Circuit Seed to develop completely new sensor applications called Sensory Seed that can do all sensing and signal processing in a single universal programmable chip.
Circuit Seed’s new Sensory Seed sensor application for automotive sensors uses a common sensor hardware platform for software designed single chip sensors. This fully integrates state-of-the-art digital processing for analog sensor electronics, including high performance ADCs, DACs and wire/RF communication capability within a single chip. Sensory Seed sensors can activate, calibrate and interrogate the sensor, offering low noise and higher speed, resulting in greater accuracy.
Autonomous cars can be a driverless car or a driver-assist vehicle that is capable of sensing its environment and navigating with minimal human input. Autonomous cars detect surroundings using a variety of techniques such as sensors, radar, LIDAR, GPS, and computer vision. Advanced control systems interpret sensory information to identify appropriate navigation paths, as well as obstacles and relevant signage. Autonomous cars have complex control systems that analyze sensory data to distinguish between different cars on the road and follow specific road sensors for destination planning.
In the collision avoidance system area, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced, in March 2016, that manufacturers of 99% of U.S. automobiles had agreed to include automatic emergency braking systems using sensors as a standard feature on virtually all new cars sold in the U.S. by 2022.
Several major companies and research organizations have developed working prototype autonomous vehicles – Mercedes-Benz, General Motors, Continental Automotive Systems, IAV, Autoliv Inc., Uber, Facebook, Google (Alphabet) Bosch, Nissan, Renault, Toyota, Audi, Hyundai, Volvo, Tesla Motors, Peugeot, Local Motors, AKKA Technologies, Vislab from University of Parma and Oxford University just to name a few. In 2015, five U.S. states (Nevada, Florida, California, Virginia, and Michigan) together with Washington, D.C. allowed the testing of fully autonomous cars on public roads. While autonomous cars have generally been tested in regular weather on normal roads, Ford has been testing its autonomous cars on snow-covered roads.
