Greg Waite, CEO of InventionShare, announced today that the company has now published a 72-page technical white paper on Circuit Seed’s CiFET™ Fundamentals due to requests by semiconductor companies and industry partners wanting more definitive information on this invention. The document explains and outlines in detail how the CiFET device works and how it can be configured.
Mr. Waite said, “Circuit Seed™ represents a major shift for industry partners in the semiconductor and electronics industry wanting to convert analog circuits to digital applications. CiFET designs allow for a variety of unique applications and offer the opportunity to reduce design time, freeing up real estate on chips which helps to lower costs associated with the traditional analog transistor circuits. We have been in discussions with a lot of companies and most fully understood the concept but wanted more detailed information on how it works and how they can plan on integrating applications.”
Circuit Seed enables a new portable family of building block circuit designs for processing low power analog signals in an all-digital domain. It is based on the new complementary current field effect transistor (the CiFET) with a channel fusion for fully integrating analog functionality with unique properties while eliminating separate analog chips and external components on the circuit board. Noise is markedly reduced, and sensitivities are considerably increased. CiFET designs also use 100 percent digital IC transistor channels to overcome many traditional analog restrictions – including parametric variations, leakage current, and temperature sensitivities. In addition, current designs require matched transistors and current mirrors for precision – while providing ultra-linear response over an extended dynamic range and the capability of operating at low supply voltages below 800mV with low power consumption at any threshold voltage.
Keith Taylor, V.P. Acquisitions and Licencing, said, “This document is a comprehensive guide on CiFET fundamentals and explains in detail how the CiFET device works and how it can be configured. For example, the iRatio™ that allows the CiFET to be tuned for specific levels of performance including Input Resistance (Rin), Trans-impedance (rm), Gain, Frequency, Noise, Current, Power and Speed unlike existing FETs that only come in one size. The CiFET Physical Structure and operating principles are explained using several charts demonstrating the CiFET in weak inversion mode with exponential gain at low power supply voltages. The physical structure is compared with a Triode (Vacuum Tube), a BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor), a FET (Field Effect Transistor) and the CiFET (Complimentary Current Injection Field Effect Transistor).”
Other areas in the report detail the CiFET Voltage amplifier, demonstrating linear performance. Charts also show that the voltage offset and gain are insensitive to process variation and temperature, and show how Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) capacitors are used as part of the circuit. Also included are charts to explain the CiFET Low Noise Amplifier, The Super Sensor Transimpedance Amplifier. Following this, there are circuits examples built using CiFET, including CiDAC™, dCiADC™, PTAT, CiVCO™, and PLL.
